MEALS

The kitchen is fully equipped to assist staff and residents' to prepare meals, snacks, beverages etc. All meals are freshley cooked on the premises and menus are devised in collaboration with the residents'. Meals are served in the communial dining room, or in their bedroom if desired, with a choice of different meals on our daily menus. We will also be happy to cater for special diets.


Laundry

All items of personal laundry are washed, free of charge, on the premises in our fully equipped laundry room which comprises of an eco-friendly commercial washing and drying machines. For this reason, we request that all garments are clearly marked with the residents' name on admission.

OTHER FACILITIES

Regular visits are made by a hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and optician. Physiotherapy can be arranged if needed.

Outings to places of interest and visits to the local theatre are arranged regulary. Residents have access to a puplic telephone in the dining room. Newspapers and periodicals are supplied to order. Hoists and other aids are provided to assist with bathing.

Prospective residents' are welcome to spend a day with us free of charge so they can see for themselves the homely atmosphere provided.

VISITING

Friends and relatives are welcome to visit freely at anytime and are welcome to stay for meals if prior notice is given.

Medical Professionals

Where residents' wish and where it is practical they may remain with their own GP'S alternatively they may wish to transfer to the list of any local GP. The home works closely with local community mental health team and psychogeriatrician.

Religious Observations

Chaplains of various denominations visit Southlands regulary. Resident's are encouraged to attend local places of worship if they wish to do so.
